Pingers Paradise

Went out for a fish on Bar Flats off Denham yesterday and talk about a pingers paradise, had another boat in company as they had been catching bugger all over their first 10 days of a 14 day holiday, dropped anchor on first spot with the other boat 20 metres away when bugger me dead along comes the first pinger, he did a complete circle round us no more that 20 metres away then slowly motors off. Blow me down yet another boat heads straight to us and does exactly the same thing. We spent approximately half hour there then move off to another spot.

Blow me down not 5 minutes after and complete repeat of the first time by two completely different boats not to be outdone we shifted spots yet again and this time only one visitor decides to come for a visit.

Got a few picks on the phone for a name and shame but don't think it will do anything to change their habits as they have the thought that no one owns the ocean and they have a right to fish where ever they please and have no interest in finding their own spots and take the easiest option

Only finished up with one size pinky and a big painted sweetlips plus about 200 undersize pinkies on our boat and 12 NW blowies and 150 undersize pinkies on the other boat so a donation of the painted sweetlips to them was in order.

Saw 2 of the boats involve pulled up outside the bakery this morning and thought better of letting them have a piece of my mind, 3 and 4 against one is not in my favour

Damn bastards.....

I get a little miffed when I see another boat on the horizon these days.... Then again I'm hard pressed to see anyone on the water in your namesake town when I'm out fishing..:D

Wind

Come on carnarvonite - if you don't stop with the 'blow-me-downs' the wind will never drop here in Perth! ha ha

Yeah pingers can be an issue but the only one that gets upset is those being pinged. It's not worth it to get into a confrontation over a fish.

I live here too and really gives me the shots especially when they anchor right along side. Last group I asked if they wanted me to move so they could get closer but they said no problems we have enough room!!!!! Bloody idiots

 Happens in karratha heaps

Happens in karratha heaps too, have had people park literally on top of us.... so tempting to put a sinker thru their windscreen, could easily reach :/

Don't name and shame, just keep an eye out in people's drive way for it - when ya find it cut the transducer cable at the very end, and tape it up so you can't tell it's been done ;) fun surprise for them when they next get to the ramp

Not that I'd ever do something that mean ;)

Keep the blowies, throw them in their boat.outside the bakery with a note saying this is all you'll catch at the spot you pinged.

We all acknowledge that we don't own the ocean

However, I get upset when you have expended quite a bit of fuel to find a good spot and then out of the blue you get 2 or more boats will come and sit right on top of you. I've had people come straight up to me and ask "how are going" quickly followed up by "I know tis spot well you should get blah blah if you can sit right on whatever". These are good people who probably did the long hours finding the spot also so I'll tell them how things are going and in all cases they have wished me luck and move onto other spots.

Respect and consideration, like a lot of things in this world today some people don't put any value on these social niceties. In my experience it's the boaties/fishermen who know what it takes to find a decent fishing spot now and give others who they judge have put the time in a bit of old school respect and I return it.

Boy weren't they but I was more into Kenny Kenn, Ellis Dee, Hype, Frenzic and Jumping Jack Frost (my namesake). The darker the better being a heavy metal boy at heart! This particular track takes me straight back everytime:

Anyhow I digress, people that ping your fishing spots are arseholes
