Pinkies before or after the 5. Sunrise and sunset

So are pinkies mainly on the chew at sun up and sun down?

10 to 12 meters?

I seem to struggle to catch them during daylight hours

I see reports with them being in the shallows to the 5.

i have been looking for small reefs and sitting next to them and burling hard but still not getting any action with the big horses.

maybe I need to be there for daylight

whats your thoughts

i have had most success at sunrise. get there in time to be fishing for first light. then again i havent done much evening fishing. but i have never really caught any after about 8-9am. im usually in about 15m or so.

i do the same, anchor near reef and burley, have caught most of mine on a unweighted mulie floating out the back while i bottom bash....then again, i ahve only caught a handful!

On the 5 ive had most luck on the back edge where it starts to break away and its flat patchy ground but predominantly sand. Usually start looking in 15-20m. Best thing about out there is a good chance of bycatch that includes dhuies to 60cm and also king George. Very lightly weighted baits with splitshot sinkers and just add more if its not getting down

either...caught them on both.

Still early but numbers will increase as the weather worsens, as Beau said back of the 5 is the go, seen a few small models a few weeks ago while diving sitting just below mid water....charters are hitting sun up out there atm.

my best answer to this

my best answer to this question is go fish for them whenever you can with the best weather for it !!

anchor near good structure and burley well with small amounts often , be patient , unweighted strip baits work well for us

i have caught more in afternoon and first hour after dark , but thats because iv fished that time more often , early mornings are also good if your keen to get out early in the cold

however my best pinkie at a whisker under 15 kg was caught on glass calm conditions in middle of day at anchor with a good burley trail out for an hour

hence why i advise fish when the weather is best and you have time to go
