Plastics rod help

Yes...I've used the search function.....lol....extensively.

trying to find a suitable dedicated plastics rod for boat. usually fish 35-60m but I guess would like to also target snapper in the shallows occasionally as well.

Seems to be lots out there but my dilemma is that I need a two piece. travelling to monties soon and also anything over 6 foot is a bit of a hassle to go into storage on my boat. would also have to buy/make a new rod tube.

looked at the DB64 CJ but fear it's slightly too heavy for my purposes. (might be fine though ????)

really welcome any suggestions.

i use my eupro salty fighter

Sat, 2015-05-16 19:45

i use my eupro salty fighter - stradic 4000 15lb braid, with plastics up to 45m (45m on a good day). the salty is a butt join and has accounted for a lot of fish so far. there are a few models and would say they are worth a look.

dont laugh to hard but i picked up a rapala t-spec from hillarys today heavily discounted, at 6.6 feels unreal i plan to use this as my placcy rod and move the salty to jigs up to 100grams. the reason i bought a 6.6 rod is i feel the extra length will improve the jig technique in deeper water 40m or so. also a butt join.

but as johnF said fishing placcys that deep is hard work, end up using a big jig and small placcy just to hold bottom, then its all about having a heavy enough rod to jig the extra weight, sort of defeated the purpose then.

Hey I like the idea of a 6'6

Hey I like the idea of a 6'6 rod. was really looking at anything from the 6'4CJ to the 7' samurai....the 6'6 seems to be about the perfect length.

Might be all about "having a heavy enough rod to jig the extra weight" and then when in shallow a lighter rod to work the lighter heads.

F%#$ me I need more rod holders on my boat.

I have concluded finding the perfect deep water (plus 30m) soft plastics rod is an impossible task after looking for years.

I just use jigs in +25 m and use my Samurai 302 in the shallow stuff, which is excellent.

looked at the 302 Samurai but unfortunately is 1 piece.
(seem to be coming to the same conclusion John. but will look at "almost perfect" ) saw your write up on a few rods with Majorcraft etc in there.... certainly helped....but 2 piece seems even harder .....blahhh..
