I see in todays West,, 55 per cent of the 266 vehieles in the first week of last month have not been claimed,,this is the new car confiscation laws.
It goes on to say in New Zealand 40% are never claimed.
Police say they could be left with a bill of $100,000 a week for towing and storage( i reckon thats a low figure as more cars get confiscated and time goes on)
Bad luck boys it looked good on paper,,pitty the Kiwis did not tip you off earlier .

I thought there was a clause
I thought there was a clause if after x many months no one had claimed it, then they can just auction if off?

don't worry they can afford
don't worry
they can afford it with all the revenue from the multinova's
give em something worthwhile to spend it on
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

They can simply divert funds
FROM the fishing license fees or use the wrecks as an artificial reef !!

And bluntly
Having been hit by a number of drunk drivers several of whom were drivg without a license then ANY cost to keep these mongrels off the road is wrth it.
Any caught a second time should be gaoled for a month and a third offence a year - see how quick that resolves the issue
