Does anyone have poly skids on their trailer instead of rollers
is there anything you can put on the poly to make the boat
slide off easier.
cheers

I use to have one and I use
I use to have one and I use to just use the brakes to shunt the boat off. I heard wax will make it slide off easier but I never tried it.

Skids !!!!
I watched a launch today and it was from skid trailer and it was driven down the ramp hard to get it to slip ..... it wasn’t until the skids were dunked he did it again and the boat took offf ...... so it might pay to wet them first !!!!!!

i`ll try that
i`ve just bought a 6 metre polycraft and they have to be on a skid trailer. my hilux had to be half submerged before
the boat left the trailer, i`ll try some of that spray and see if it helps.

i use to have the 6.0mtr
i use to have the 6.0mtr polycraft as well. never really had to shunt it off that hard but if i was by myself i use to sink the trailer a bit more. i also did plenty off beach launching with it as well so i could never hit hte brakes that hard otherwise i would have got bogged. when there was two of us i use to also stand in the boat as well as start the motor while the deckie backed the car down and bang it to reverse to help get it of the trailer then tie up. the good thing about skids when it sticks a bit is that when you drive it up it wont slid back off like rollers.

mindarie
i`ve only had the boat a week and i have been launching at mindarie. i have to have the back wheels of my hilux half submerged
before it even wants to start sliding on the trailer. i might have to check the trailer and see if i can move the boat back a foot.
winching on i`ve nearly got all 4 wheels of the hilux in the water, was your trailer a dunbier.

Ah yeh thats not good haha. Put some pics up! My trophy was a big but never that bad. Is the trailer high? Are they the right skids for the boat? Eg blue is ally and red is glass?

purpose built
the trailer is purpose built by dunbier for the polycraft boat which is plastic,i would have thought
poly on poly would have been very slippery, i`m heading out tomorrow so i`l get a couple of pics :-)

Nah it wasn’t a dunbier from
Nah it wasn’t a dunbier from memory but it was a piece of piss to drive on. I tried to winch it once and it was heavy as f*** then I decide to drive it on from there on. If your trailer is anything like mine was you can’t go wrong other than launching your boat through the back of your car. When retrieving i use to back down till the rear wheel on the trailer was just under water. That was my guide.

Always used to skid mine off.
if I was launching solo, just tie a long rope to the bow. Opposite problem now, I have to restrain it by a rope in a cleat once I have taken the weight off the winch and removed the saftey chain. then, just pull the ripcord and she's away! At least with poly skids you don't have to worry so much about dumping it off the trailer, I'm paranoid with mine--have installed a second winch point on the bow just for the safety chain.

lol....
i went for a sea trial in a boat a month ago and the guy from the boat yard backed the boat in and
unhooked the safety chain and started letting off the winch and it just started sliding, i had to pull the rope
and keep the boat on the trailer so he could onhook the winch lol..... i can see how it a worry when it slides off that easy
