Portable Shade Ideas - 6 metre Boat
Submitted by trueblue_10 on Sun, 2014-01-12 21:06
Looking for ideas and some photos on ideas on a cheap but practical solution to provide shade from my Bimini to the Back of the boat on a 6.1 metre Cuddy Cabin Boat (Quintrex).
This is to keep sun off the family when over mainly in rotto swimming and sitting around in the back of the boat having a few drinks etc as the Bimini is not sufficient for that.
I was thinking it has to be some thing I can attach to the back of the Bimini and pull to the Transom but suspend in the ait via poles at the back possibly in the rod holders. I am sure someone out there has set up something on this??

in my tinny i just use the cheap blue/red beach umbrellas from bunnings, just jam them in a spare rod holder. they fold up quickly when not in use or on the move and dont take up much space.

I am thinking the same.
I am thinking the same. Especially for Oz day. What I was thinking is a rear 4wd awning. It has the posts that fold out and it unrolls. The size is 1.4x2m. eBay sells them. Want to buy one local so I can use on Oz day.

At christmas with one he had made a frame out of PVC pipe that went into the rear rod holders and he just slung a cheap tarp over it and tied it to the bimini and the rear of the boat. Cheap to make worked well and easy to fold up.
