Problems with a Raymarine Dragonfly 5
About a week ago, I bought one of these combos and have had nothing but trouble with it. I've only had it on the water once, and although the fishfinder feature seems to work OK, I am having all sorts of "fun" with the GPS. It will mark a waypoint when you are sitting on the water over the point I want to mark. However, when I have tried to input waypoints at home, that is another story. Sometimes it works and sometimes it won't. When entering the GPS coordinates, it will sometimes allow me to save them. Most times it won't. When that happens, it will also bar me from using the left and right curser feature. But then, sometimes I cannot get the lovely new machine to allow me to "place a waypoint" at all.
I can't fault the guys from All Boats and Caravans, where I bought the machine. They have tried very hard to discover the problem and at present it is at their shop while they download the latest software onto it. Have any other Raymarine users had this problem, or have I just bought a lemon which I should have replaced under warrantee?

Should be replaced..free of charge
It is good to see that the retailer has been very helpful to you and attempted to rectify a non acceptable fault with this machine.
If the down loading of the latest software doesn't totally fix the problem then one must assume that after following the instructions to get a feature to work the desired feature still doesn't work the machine is cactyus.
A replacement is required.
According to DOCEP Dept of Consumer and Employment, the retailer is responsible for getting this done on your behalf.
This can be a bit of a pain in the backside for them (all boats) however, they have sold you a device which is not performing the functions it was marketed as having.
Full stop.
Do not be lead into thinking it is your responsibility, it's not, and I'm sure that a responsible company like All Boats will help all they can to keep another customer satisfied. Remember they don't make the product they just sell it in good faith that it works ok.
Please keep this site updated as things progress so that we, the F/W members and consumers can see and take notice of products that don't perform strait out of the box, and how retailers assist in getting customer satisfaction.

Mate I have a Dragonfly 7
Mate I have a Dragonfly 7 and I had some problems early on related to connections etc but Raymarine did everything they could and beyond to make sure it was not a problem of the unit. Im still not sure what the issue was as they replaced the unit first, then the transducer along the way, whilst i was making some changes of my own. Call them on their help line from the website ..give them the chance to help you.i cant speak highly enough of their back up service ...As for inputting waypoints manually I havent even tried it sorry.best of luck

Problem fixed - I hope
I picked up my Dragonfly this morning after the download of the most recent software. We did a bit of troble shooting and it seems that the unit finds it difficult to input a waypoint manually if the boat is parked in a garage. Particularly if the garage has a colorbond roof. It can be done, but you have to fool it. Everything seems OK, but will have to check it out over an extended period. The boys at All Boats tried really hard for me and I am most appreciative. I amm not throwing my receipt away anytime soon, though.
Cheers
Baz
