Submitted by randall df223 on Wed, 2014-07-09 19:47
I have just seen a post on Facebook that GME are recalling epirbs manufactured between Jan 2005 and Feb 2008. Models MT400 MT401 and MT403. S/N between 50101000 and 80250722.
Sorry I can't paste the link

Think mines in that group, were previously suggesting it be tested regularly and sent back if test fail, looks like they had a few fail the test

Not sure. The older ones
Not sure. The older ones maybe. I thought most epirbs had a ten year life with a battery replacement after 5 years????

I cant find a general recall
I cant find a general recall on the website, only the 6 month old one "if it fails a self test" one?
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

GME Epirbs
The Epirbs in these groups should be on the second battery
If your device falls into the recall group contact GME directly on (08)94555744 (Perth Branch)
These Epirbs have a 6+6 year battery life giving a total of 12 years after the free battery replacement at the end of the first 6 years

thanks
I am sure my beacon falls into this range, was about to organise a replacement batery for it. Guess now it will be replaced. Thanks for the alert Randall, mine has a 6 year battery life so just falls into this range.
