Pro's netting 6 tonne of tailor!

Heard that the professionals netted 6 tonnes of tailor last week along the northern beaches of Bunbury... And apparently they were sent off for cat food.

Whats the point of having bag limits for us recreational anglers when the pro's can take so much?

Tailor

No pro in his right mind would deliberately net a school of tailor because they cause a huge amount of damage to the net by biting through all the meshes and hangings. Have had it done to set nets but haul nets get twice to three times as much damage..Once the school of tailor is trapped inside the net they go absolutely mental and bite on anything that gets close, be it other fish, the net of some stupid prick  in the water.

If you have spent hours repairing holes in nets only to deliberately give yourself days of work doing it again, the mind boggles.

Question---where would they send them off for cat food, to my knowledge there is only one cannery in WA and it won't reopen for at least another 6-8 weeks when the salmon season  start and then its all for human consumption not pet food.

I heard the same pro's helped George W Bush knock down the World Trade Centre

Id love to know who starts this shit, it pops up every few months.

Im not saying it never happens-just that everytime one of these "I heard...." threads pop up, I havent seen a correct one yet.

Most just blow off here without making the SLIGHTEST effort to check facts.

Im sure a local would quickly be able to find out if anything remotely of this nature actually did happen?

The pro's have targeted

The pro's have targeted tailor for years now...I have personally seen many tailor netted without any problems...

Im not one for starting false stories however i am 100% sure this is true as i was told by a professional him self. I jus thought i would post this up as i no Im not the only angler who gets fed up with these mass killings..

Just ask some of the Augusta fisherman about the tailor netting that happens down that way?

I think Im with "pale ale" on this one!!

Tailor

Sat, 2011-12-17 18:58

I've been involved with most of the pros from Bunbury to Augusta over many years one way or another through salmon, whitebait, bluebait, wetlining or shark fishing and to say that they targetted tailor on a beach net shot knowing what they were before doing it I have major doubts.

Regardless of that, they are licenced to take them anyway so they are not breaking any laws unless they were undersize and to state that they went for cat food, again I am extremely doubtful.
