The specs looks/sounded awesome... 8 ball barings...etc..
what your after. Basically anything under $100 will be ok for general purpose fishing but will fail either under the strain of a large fish or eventually fall to bits.
I am thinking of getting something for my beach rod. Maybe to carter for bigger fish.
The biggest reel i have is 4000 model and i am not sure it can handle saltwater fishing well. So, i am thinking of the quantum surge as it looks attractive/good.
Well, is Penn a better brand than Quantum surge? Are they not the same company,JW?
Best bang for the buck go into big w, look for the shimano alivio reel 6000fa or 10000fa, 6000 should cost like $46 the 10000 $65 which isnt worth it cause its a deeper spool same body as the 6000, BCF sells its at $100 a pop so youy making a huge saving, that reel will handle your basic beach fishing needs and snapper fishing and probaly other fish to 10kg with ease and a 10 year warranty cant complain about that!.

I was gonna go down that path, but after doing abit more research found out it was crap, there are better options out there at the price point.
