Question about rods with rollers
Submitted by Dicey on Sat, 2010-09-04 19:37
I know its a silly question to ask if you can cast the rod or not, but has anyone tried, reason why i ask is looking at getting a wilson LBG rod but it has a roller tip the rest are normal guides, is it possible to cast it? thanks in advance.

I cast an O/H like rubbish
but the roller tip IMO will have no effect whatsoever on your casting. In theory it should aid casting with less frictional resistance.

change it
you can change the tip easy yourself or any tackleshop should be able to do it, my mate has 1 and if he uses thin diameter line on it then it sometimes gets caught down the side of the roller, have a look and see if that could possibly happen on yours

If it's a quality AFTCO
roller tip you won't have any dramas , in 15 years LBG I've never had the line jam in a roller tip
Just one more cast , honest !!!

Yep line will jam on cheap roller tips, like my Backbone elite did in the 09 Billfish Bonanza....remember Goatch? I Took it off and put a decent guide on it.

will be fine since i think its a aftco on the wilson, not a fan of live fibres but will give the LBG a chance.
