Question about Swiftcraft Dominators.

Does anyone have any info on swiftcraft dominators?? especially some feedback on ones that have had pods attached.
Who has owned one? How well do they ride etc...
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Swiftcraft
I had a 1984 model Swiftcraft Viking with a 140 Evinrude. Same hull, slightly different helm/topdeck set up. Really good into a small chop because of the really sharp entry, but had a really flat deadrise at the stern. If you got anywhere near airborne the ass end would slap pretty heavily. Having said that, it was super stable and rode well in most conditions.
Cant comment on the pod but as long as the transom isnt rotting then I would imaging it would be a good thing. It would give tonnes more fishing space.
As old as the design is I still reckon they are a great boat. Have a chat to the guy who runs Foothills Marine (if they are still around) because they have the moulds and are/were making them until recently. They would be able to give you some awesome input and perhaps even conduct the inspection for you.
Summary, if you get one in good condition I would say you are getting a good boat. The older models (late 80's early 90 should be as cheap as chips. If you get one in the late 90's or into the 2000's you would be on a winner.

I had a 2000 dominator
I had a 2000 dominator with 200 efi mariner on the back.It was very well made (foothills marine ) but i found it very harsh ,slaping in average conditions.my brother had a viking and it seemed a lot better in average conditions his was 1976 model.Unless its fairly cheap there is a lot better riding boats out there.. Like haines ,seafarer,or most queensland built boats. in my opinion only
Hope this helps

I had a 2000 model viking for
I had a 2000 model viking for a few years and thought the ride was pretty harsh but very stable when travelling and at rest.It had awesome deck space and carried a big load well.
One of my mates has got an old dominator with a pod on it and it rides noticably better than my viking did.Even my missus noticed this.
Still a good all round boat.

if i were you i'd be looking
if i were you i'd be looking at a voyager. We had one and just sold it because we're upgrading. It was the best glass boat it had great deckspace handled the crap conditions well and was so stable IMO. We sold ours 5.6m with 115hp 4 stroke yamaha for 16k. Just keep your eye open for one
