Question for the GT poppers

Guys,
Just preparing myself for a GT popping expedition, being a complete noob in this area i have a question to ask.
when jigging and fishing in perth i use the Daiwa fishing belt http://daiwafishing.com.au/fighting-belt/
i like it because it i can keep it on all day and it doesnt bother me.
would this suffice for GT popping? or would those plate fighting belt similar to the JM ones be better off? I have asked a few ppl with mixed responses.
i just dont want to be caught out wishing i had one.
been watching alot of youtube videos and i notice alot of guys have the back support as well...out of 10 would you recommend getting one?

GT Popping
I'm no expert but have caught a few solid G's on poppers and never used a belt or gimbal as you're spending a lot of time moving, casting and retrieving and it often gets in the way plus when you do get a hookup you've often only got split seconds before the fish tries to reef you and the last thing you want to be doing if you're new to it is staring down at a belt or gimbal trying to locate the rod butt properly while running heaps of drag with a big G thrashing around on the end trying to reef you.
Most GT fights are fairly short and explosive rather then long and drawn out over hours like billfish or sharks where you really find yourself needing a gimbal or harness as the burn sets in!
By all means use a belt if you feel more comfortable with one, it's just that more than a few times I have seen guys cast all day only to have that one big hookup for the day lost while fumbling around with the gimbal... just some food for thought anyway! Best bet would be to go into a shop and try them all on to find the most comfortable one that doesn't get in the way - they all fit different size people differently!

Ive fought a couple of Gts
Ive fought a couple of Gts with this belt and found that it didn't have a big enough surface area. With the high drags you need to run the rod but still digs in through the belt. I wear mine when chasing bills to clear the spread or wind in by catch.
I actually fish.

just watch out for the
just watch out for the aluminium/plate ones on other peoples boats as they can scratch them up a bit and they may get annoyed with you. as for the daiwa belt it should do the job
