I would expect a tinny would have better resale value too.
And I would'nt want to go offshore in the $4,000 - 30ft boat you can sleep on either

Grey nomads seem to like them in the pilbara, seem quite useful. Wouldn't take one further than i could swim in 60s.

G'day Morgs,
I have a little experience with the Quickboat and a lot more experience with the Porta Bote.
Personally I wouldn't take the Porta Bote too far from shore.
I like the portability of the Porta Bote but it does have its limitations.
I can tow my caravan and put the porta bote on the roof racks.
I went out in the Quickboat with James who is the Director of Quickboats here in Oz.
I was very impressed.
The ride was very smooth.
It was a 12' boat with an 8hp 2 stroke outboard and we were able to do 30kph with the 2 of us in it.
Maximum speed with my 5.8hp outboard on my Porta Bote has been 22kph with cavitation issues.
And that is by myself.
I'd feel a lot more comfortable in a Quickboat venturing a bit further from shore than I would in my Porta Bote.
I believe the 12' Quickboat can take a 9.8hp outboard.
