Quobba trip

 Hi guys

we are planning a quobba trip for sometime around dec/jan coming. I was wondering what people's experiences have been at these months weather wise. Unfortunately last time we went was end of September and we were greeted with westerly winds every day, and huge swells with dirty water which basically made fishing impossible. I'm hoping this time to plan it a bit better so we can actually fish most or every day up there. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ash

 dec january is ridiculously hot.

look at the late january temps this year

also predominately southerly winds howling most days.

mid year is a better time. more consistent easterlies and bearable temperatures

Hot???

You will find that its hotter in Perth in December / January than it is in Carnarvon. Perth gets more days a year over 35 than Carnarvon. Expect temps of 25 overnight and low thirties during the day.

Now, back to the thread. There are spots where you can fish when the southerlies are in, in the shadow of Cape Cuvier and the same with Red Bluff. Early mornings the wind will be SE 15 - 20 knots turning to SW anywhere between 20-30 until after 2000 at nigt then easing off.

November

We always go in November. Winds are mostly south to south east in the morning but plenty of place the fish. Plenty of Sharkies and Spanish mack around and a few cobia. Not too hot either.

Cheers guys. To be perfectly honest I'd love to balloon however I prefer to spin so as long as its safe enough on the rocks/ledges I'm happy. This trip kind of has to be around those months as its more of a 'bucks' trip for a good mate of mine. I could possibly do it in November if the conditions are that much better.

Spin

Spin is all we do this time of year. best places to go are garths Ledge and the caves. Both are a bit of a trek and the cave can be hard to find if you have not been up there before. You can also try 2 mile if the tide and swell is down.
