Raise a glass boys , raise a glass, snif snif

THE homegrown Ford Falcon ute has reached the end of the line, marking the end of an era. The company that invented the ute — and then introduced it to the rest of the world in 1934 — has built the last example of its type in Australia. It is the first historic step in Ford’s factory shutdown process in the lead-up to the car assembly line’s last day of operation on October 7. The last ever Ford Falcon ute rolled off the Broadmeadows production line near the end of shift about 3pm on Friday — following in the tyre tracks of the original Falcon ute built in the same facility 55 years ago, in February 1961.

Today was the day the old falcon ute is no more , had a couple of XM,s , a XP , and now I have this one.( a keeper Id say now!)

The first of the xh utes back with a 5.0 litre after fords v8 ban in the 90,s.

Many sad days to come as local manufacturing winds down , good  bye locally made Ford and Holden

Hello Hyundies , great walls , and smart cars me thinks.

( Yes , hello Mustang and Camaro , but they aint making utes!)

Yep, I have one of the last of the V8 Utes as my everyday ride. Still a great set of wheels.

Yeah gas and fuel , old ineffiecent mixer type system and I get around 500km out of a 70  litre lpg tank.( not compleatly empty)

Good enough for me, I havent had a ute for a while and had forgot just how handy they are.

This ones done car parts runs, bunnings garden supply runs, and towed the quads to bindoon for dirt drags.

We gave the ute or utilty to the world , and its as aussie as you can get , think of all the utes on the road

in Australia atm , from bloody protons, mighty boys and dato 1200,s  to dodge rams and f250,s with everything in between,

cruisers , patrols, rodeos, hilux etc etc etc.!

All spawned from a single vehicle designed by Lew Bandt in geelong in 1933-1934.

postscipt., yeah ford and holden have built some shockers over the years, and time wont treat

cars like the Au falcon or vr-vs commodores well Im sure, but my post is more about another loss to

local history and jobs , something we will never see back again!

I've got a 2011 V8 Ford Pursuit ute in the shed back home, only got about 6000ks on it, saving it for a rainy day.
