When researching them for buying for myself i found some comments about the paint jobs not the best after a year or two and electrolosis coming through...might be something to investigate.
I have got a Razerline Kane.............. and unfortunatley have some paint issues around the areas where rod holders, hinges etc have been attached. The general paint job is fine, however there was definately some problems when these guys drilled and screwed after the initial paint job.
Apart from that the boat is very well made and the ride is pretty good for a runabout style boat.
glass give a better ride unless your going surtee or similar . all jackmans can be jarring as the orig design was for cray boats i think , but razorlines are still a good fishing setup just a bit harder on the body than a good glass hull ,the main thing with buying a boat is to take a year or two and look at as many as poss and go to sea in them
I can definatly say i dont like the Razerlines. The older Razerlines pre 1998 were very nice, when they were built by Hampton Yachts, finished great and rode excellent.
I agree with Damo. If I was going ali it would definatly be Barcrusher or Surtees, or i would try and locate an older razerline and refit it.
The trouble with alot of plate ali boats is that they are too light. I have found that the plate ali's with a sterndrive perfom alot better. Lower C'G and more weight forward of the transom. Nothing wrong with a bit of ballast.
But then again i have glass so i know where my choice lies.....................
I decided to support local industry in W.A and bought an Ally, buggered if I would ever do it again! Far too many teething problems, crap service, pretty peed off in the end, even though all problems where eventually sorted out......As the last comment stated, spend a year or two looking.....
hey thanks everyone but what do you all thing of the carribean reefrunner 21ft-24ft, can these have auxilary motors. and also how about trailcraft and a small local boatbuildr called redline, they look pretty strong
carabean reefrunners are awesum as for trailcraft heard of alot of bad things , as for small boat builders they are small for a reason go a major perth based manufacturer that has years of exp behind them that way you can be confident you are getting a boat with a good rep (by all means not saying all small boat manufactures are bad )

Very happy with my 6.1m Redline. Built like a brick shitter with function in mind (quality welding, not cocky crap covered with bog) rather than lots of fandangly fiddly bits that cost heaps but don't do a lot.
Does bang a bit but that's a con of ali.
Another guy who builds a nice boat is Brad Wood from 'Oceanic Boats'.
if your after a 2nd hand boat i have a 7.5m westerberg than im thinking of selling .. its old school tough and built super heavy she now has a brand new 300hp f/i chev and brand new merc leg . (done 30 hours)
Have to agree (although a litlle biased as Ive have one) You do get what you pay for though. Im lead to believe that Kev and Greg used to work for Razerline....The Preston Craft's are designed by Denis Walsh. I cant fault mine.
my old man has a razorline and havent had any dramas at all with it in the 4 or 5 years hes had it.there is 1 in lancelin for sale atm for 80 odd grand that looks pretty nice
Had mine for almost 5 years now. Paint finsh was crap and started bubbling within 6months.
I will hand it to Stuart though, they listened to what I wanted in my boat and accommodated my changes which was far from what the other WA supposedly plate and now defunct builder would do.
If I was doing it again, would only consider a surtees/barcrusher if it were an alloy otherwise it'd be glass all the way.
i used to fish with a guy that had custom built razor line that he added alot of extra stuff, even down to the thickness of the hull, it was a good boat and went every where we did and usally out fished us as well(nothing to do with the boat but)
yes his paint also went to shit, but my old man is a spray painter and you get what you pay for, so if you go the ally, spend some extra on the paint job.
but that being said, i would never own/buy a ally offshore fishing rig, 6mtr plus, as the ride/noise is shit.
buy a good glass boat and you will never look back!
ally's should be tiny's and small rigs only until you get into the very large crayboat style.
really good boat we had one that went to denham and across to the point ina centre cab design and was the ducks nuts. built well and they are good fishing rigs, however as most of said glass is a lot better ride, but to go the best get a cat!!!
I went through this for 18 months ali ,glass even poly.I started to get confused and changed my mind 10 times.I eventally decided on glass and went deal shopping, you would be amazed the deals they will offer if your serious.A good indication for me was the boats on the water on the not nice days. I limited myself to a choice of four (cruisecraft 685 explorer, hainse patiot 680 ,Tournament 2250 bluewater and commdores 6.7 )but should have been six the reefrunner 24 and sea striper seaswirl 23 would have been strong contenders have had a look at both of these since.I am very happy with my choice and so is the wife,a small point that impressed me with most dealers was nobody bagged other brands so the choice was completely mine.Boat show deals are best way too compare on short lists
Hey guys. Found this bloke who has a razerline custom sitting in his shed , motor is a right off so just looking hull and trailer only.
Ill attach a pic pic of it but it’s when it was brand new. I looked I. The bible and the Steel still looks brand new. Bothooks like it’s a 6.3 hard top. That’s about it. I made a new post on the boat discussing forum but can’t seem to upload a pic To this reply???

Along with Westeberg,
Along with Westeberg, Razerline are one of the 2 only plate boats I would consider being a Glass Fan. They are a nice looking & performing hull.

markeed as the rolls royce of ali
looked at them in the past and very $$$$. couldn't justify the extra expense and there are comparable boats these days.
pretty sure they come out of the Jackman stable of hulls.

After visiting some boat shows....
Surtees are the best ali boat around in my opinion, and theyre priced competatively.

I preffer glass
for the superior ride. If I was going to go for ali I would go Stagg boats. I have never seen a better built or finished ali boat anywhere in OZ.

surtees
stabicraft
bar crusher
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
