Just coming back from serious injuries and needing time to get some good match fitness up.
Yes, Gaff could probably go, Kelly hasn't set the world on fire and Mclovin's form aside from injury hasn't been great too.
A few others come to mind too like Sheed ( gets the ball a lot, but doesn't do a log with it), Darling, Cole etc etc.
Time the young players get more game time I reckon.
So Sam Mitchell in line to step in as coach at the Hawks down the track. Happy with that succession planning Boon?

These fuckers ( Mcglovin ) hold their club to ransom ( ie Grundy 7 years 7+million )....
Saw in the paper the other day, WC were the worst of the lot for having their top end blokes on big dollars...
Add to that the club folding to get Kelly back for two first rounders and looks like strife to me....
I've said it before on here that Mcgovern won you a flag ( Sheed kicked the goal but he did the hard yards ) so there is a dollar value on that BUT I'm not a fan of these blokes asking for big bucks and basicall holding the club that gave them a chance to ransom....
Yes Frosty you rated Kelly 4th rate, that was in a year he got runner up in brownlow at a Club that had one of the strongest midfields going around, hard to knock the bloke in that year but WC got lured in by the chance of silverware with a good list and adding him to the mix....
GWS will be fucked for years if they lock Kelly in for 8/8.... He has never played a full year and it will squeeze other talent out meeting his contract demands...
WC will roll Nth and should cruise on into finals with a pretty easy run home but they have some tough decisions in the years to come...
Gaff wouldn't have heaps of currency and TBH I think WC need him anyway....

I agree with a lot of what's been said above. I think the issues run a bit deeper but the next few weeks will tell. Like Boon I think they'll roll the Kangas and cruise on towards the finals but unless something serioulsy changes, we'll just be making up the numbers by then. The lack of effort and heart in the last 2 games has been very, very sad to see.

Surely WC style of game must come into question? That slow kick/ mark, possession game is outdated now and other teams know how to beat it. WC need to show some heart and play hard fast contested footy but its not easy changing mid year with guys that arent used to it.

Nic Nat is getting the tap but doesnt have the people around him to tap to. The mids cant transition the ball and when they do get it, they cant do it cleanly.

Why the Eagles kept going down the wing every time is beyond me. Kick from defence to the wing wasn't being marked, largely because it was wet, so the ball is going to go to ground where the Eagles are shit! If you do the same thing every time how can you expect a different result?
How about rolling the dice and going through the corridor? What's the worst that can happen? They already got beaten by the bottom side AT HOME! Well done Norf!

Gaff is an elite accumlator but is far from one of our better ball users. If he's not blindly bombing it into the forward 50 he's either turning it over or handballing to another player under pressure and still can't kick with his right foot. You are right though with a pick around 20 but it would also free up significant cap space.
I still think 1/3 of our team look unfit after returning from long injury layoffs and we'll click and round out the season playing much better footy but it's very frustrating viewing at the moment.

They are paid a shitload of money to play footy for a club that is actually a business. If they were sooking because of Willy then that would be very, very poor. My employer would sack anyone who didn't even try to do their job for 3 weeks because they were upset over the actions of, and relating to another employee.

Agreed Andy. I know they started better last week and there was a lot of effort but it just didn't last beyond hal;f time. Some guys worked hard all night but only a handful of them and you can't be competitive like that. Pressure is on for a big improvment this week!
