Is that for each licence

Thu, 2018-05-10 17:20

Does that mean it's up $5 for each licence ie: netting, cray RFBL and all the other licences or is it just $5 rise on the RFBL.

Another 5 bucks a year is hardly going to break the bank but it should provide everyone with a clear message that the current government doesn't give a fat rat's clacker about the recreational fishing sector.  Easy targets, always were and always will be.

each lic3ence will be an extra fiver increase , so another
$ 30 per year if you get em all or $ 270 all up .. thats a hike from the old umbrella style licence of a decade ago

given wa already has the highest fees in the country its pretty poor to target rec fishos again ...

they know we will pay as we all like to fish ,

conceptually I don't have an issue with it, if you understand what it costs just in terms of admin, plastic cards and mail its already a bargain - a better idea is to increase the fines exponentially for breaching the rules - especially for people who are knowingly breaking them - you know the ones - the poor guy who didn't know that it was not ok to take 53 undersize crabs or 15 baby pink snapper because he wanted to mince them for fish cakes - ffff slap them with a 50k fine and see your revenue go up some!

We are being ripped off Big

Fri, 2018-05-11 10:07

We are being ripped off Big time. In NSW and Vic you only pay $35 a year and that covers every type of fishing, to do the same here cost several hundred dollars!! I wouldnt mind paying if they improved the fishery but WA Fisheries do sfa compared to what the eastern states are doing. Even good old SA has opened up some of its drinking water impoundments and stocked them with fish to create new fisheries.

Fri, 2018-05-11 14:49

It's a cumaltive rise along with everything else and given the state government said it would not increase these fees you could come to the conclusion that there were no plans/forecast in place on what this extra revenue is to be spent on? I would like to see a breakdown on where its going if it is on infrastructure I have a problem if it is putting people in jobs i am okay with that. I see Recfish are going to bat for the fishermen so will wait and see.

Just put $5 less of fuel in the boat and run out. You will get your moneys worth being towed in .

Not fair when their wasting so much money in other places .

Sun, 2018-05-13 07:53

I wouldn't mind paying more to launch if I had a boat ramp that was safe to launch from and no chance of getting bogged on the incoming tide.
Looks like they will save me money because for the amount of times the wife fishes I will have her fish under my bag limit and not renew her license. CHEERS Mr McGowan

Ohhh- But look where my $5.00 is going.....

Good to see McClown has his priorities right- he's going to save us money- yippee

"The McGowan Government is likely to buy two jets to fly ministers and MPs around the State, saying leasing planes is costing too much.

Premier Mark McGowan told The West Australian yesterday the Government would likely seek to buy two used executive jets, though he was unable to say how much it would cost taxpayers.

The Government leases two executive jets to ferry MPs around WA and to meetings on the east coast at a cost of $3.4 million a year.

Mr McGowan said bought jets could also be used by police or in emergencies.

"My Government is committed to getting the finances on a sustainable footing,” he said.

Leasing these aircraft just doesn’t make financial sense any more. The most cost-effective solution for taxpayers is for the government to purchase used aircraft.

This will deliver long-term ongoing savings to the State.

Mr McGowan said the cost of buying used planes would not be more than the equivalent of a one-year lease."

$290 per person!! What the actual f**k?!

$290 Me
$290 Wife
$120 Kid 1
$120 Kid 2
$820 a year to catch a fish?!?!? ($738 with discount)

or

$134.40 for the whole family to fish for everything in Victoria
1 year licence for $35.70 ($33.60 if purchased online)

Hows about the fishing licence extent beyond boating... you know to the 50000 people that come to Mandurah packed into their cars, walking around and taking home 10 crabs* each ie 50 crabs per car - PAYING NOTHING!

*and 90% of the time those 10 are undersized as well.

It's starting to happen up

Tue, 2018-05-22 17:18

It's starting to happen up here in the Kimberley as well with native title land holders now charging tourist fees on top of the parks and wildlife dept fees to access the prime sites. My question would be does the money raised come off their welfare benefits and do they have to start paying for the houses that are currently supplied to them for fuck all.

Tue, 2018-05-22 20:02

Starts small and in places the populace is not fussed about, then it  slowly gets traction takes over everything... when it comes to enjoying the outback its equal rights unless your white... then you have no rights... just the right to pay for this pay for that... every year more fees, permits licences..

Sick of paying 35% tax and all the add on fees charges and taxes. Take it out of the that bundle of cash already taken. Sick of supporting dole bludgers, crackheads to steal from me and an over inflated public service.

Use my throw net for bait

Tue, 2018-05-22 17:13

Use my throw net for bait maybe twice a year as most of my fishing is lures so will be dropping that one off next renewal and also the wifes rec boat one so fuck you McGowan you just saved me $85. Have noticed a huge decline in fisheries presence in Broome and on the Fitzroy river this last twelve month so I'm guessing as officers leave they aren't being replaced. Makes me wonder what my lcense money is being spent on.

Not quite right BarraSlayer

The nanny state raises all the fees to subsidise the shark shields for that protected species....the surfer .

I have to pay full price for my EPIRB my life jackets and flares which are all in aid of keeping me alive if I get into trouble, but the surfer gets my tax dollars to allow him to participate in his chosen sport'  surfing and the nanny state will pay for him/her to enjoy their sport while they reduce thw risk some what.

Don't get me wrong many years ago I greatly enjoyed the sport and spent a lot of years enjoying it, with no government aided protection you went in the water at your own risk.

yes I acknowledge that there wasn't the amount of shark activity (at least not that i can remember) back then it will be interesting to seehow manny of the surfing brigade take up the offer or say it's not 100% garrenteed to stop a shark attack.

My answer to that is if you want an absolute garentee against a shark attack, stay at home and don't wash.
