Redfin on Harvey Dam

Hi guys,

I am a long time reader, first time poster!

I just have a few questions on fishing for Redfin perch on the Harvey Dam.

1. Do I need a freshwater angling licence even when going for Redfin?

2. Harvey Dam is quite a big place, do Redfin behalf like bream? should I just look for structure and dropoffs?

3. Are they on the bite down there at the moment?

Thanks!

Hi Jp

Yes , you do need to have a freshwater licence , but there is no bag or size limit and you are not supposed to put them back in the water .

Cant help with your other questions ........good luck.

Sherps

Take them home and eat them. They are nice on the platter. Up towards the hills where the old Stansfield Rd use to be is great with timber stuctures. Otherwise as Sherbs said the wall is good. If you can get into a canoe or electric powered boat even better to get out to structure, and they hit Marron imitation like Craw daddy's pretty well and hard, but overall suck in the fighting department.

They are a pest, and if returned the whole fishery suffers, because they get a plague of small fish, eat trout and marron. So pull as many as you can out and enjoy. Some say they taste like KG whiting, but I am not that convinced.
