reel advice

hey guys, im lookin to buy a new reel. i want to use it for beach fishing.

i had my eyes on the saragosa 18000, cheapest i have found it for is around 339.

but have now come accross the okuma v system 80A and the salina II 16000. i can get these for over $100 cheaper.

i have read reports online, which have thrown my preference back and forth, was just wondering what opinions u guys might have?

cheers

longcast

Saragosa is a very good reel but maybe you should consider one with a long cast spool, some examples of this are

Daiwa emblem pro

daiwa windcast

daiwa x cast

saltiga surf (premium)

shimano big baitrunner

daiwa emcast (could be cheap and nasty)

I actually own several of those reels, Other good allround/beach reels are shimano spheros and penn 850ss (bulletproof)

The only Okuma stuff I have I dont really like, but thats my preference.

Big

The BIG baitrunner has a long cast spool the others don't but are decent reels. Beach fishing more often than not requires long distance casting. Your rod will do most of the work but those reels I mentioned are designed to complement a good rod by letting the line fly off with least resistance

I have the 5500Z and can't fault it one bit. Definetly adds some metres on your casting distance and is smooth as to use.

Another option....

Another reel highly recommended and popular is the Okuma Eclipz 90 baitrunner.

Basically an equivalent to the aging BTR6500 but tougher with stainless steel gears and larger line capacity. Its also backed with Okuma's lifetime warranty. Good value reel.
