Release weight rope

Guys just something very quick and basic. What thickness rope do you gus recommend for using an 80oz release weight for fish up to say 30-40kg?! I was thinking 5mm would suffice that way it won't take up too much room in the boat. And just tie it off with uni knot or something onto the weight?!

cheers in advance!

Handline

Hi mate, We use a Handline that has about 200lb Mono line. This way the line can be easily retrieved and stored without a mess.

Yes we do mate,

They are 240mm handlines so quite large, But also makes line retrieval faster. They are spooled with 100m of 200lb mono. Feel free to drop past and we can sort it for you.

I use my spare TLD20 2spd on a rod with 80lb braid for my release weight line. Means it gets down quick and get it back even quicker. So less time spent releasing means more time fishing.
