Ribbed or smooth - important stuff

I have asked the mrs if she wants ribbed or smooth and she said smooth. Previously I had ribbed because that's what the boat came with, but I think smooth looks better, mainly because I can't cut straight lines.
Is there an advantage to one type of carpet or the other? Smooth is cheaper and I am a fan of cheaper.

great choice of words there.
great choice of words there. i went with smooth this time as it is easier to clean than ribbed. stuff can get stuck in the ribbed and more comfort with smooth in my opinion

Carpet of love?
Whatever you decide , its always better to involve the missus, they can get cranky if you bring in a 3rd party when talking about that ribbed or smooth debate. Just remember to wash it down occasionally as it can smell funny after a few uses. Some guys even lay it out in the driveway in the sun after rinsing, but that's a personnel decision . ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, now what was your marine carpet question?

Smooth IMO. Little bit like weed, leaves etc get stuck in the ribs and its much harder to clean. Had ribbed in the boat and changed it to smooth. Also use smooth for outdoor patio carpet.
As for the other ribbed, but I am way past that!!!!!

Ribbed
For my pleasure only.
On saying that I just spent the last two hours giving my boat a bath to get rid of the lovely Carnarvon Pindan dirt and leaves from the tree in my back garden . Smooth carpet would make my life easier for vacuuming all of the leaves out , then again I should just shut up and clean it on a more frequent basis .
My wife understands why I clean my rods n reels in the shower....
