Richter Lures

Bought a couple of Black Magic skirted trolling lures today a Maggot and a Small Devil. Didn't notice at the shop but I am pretty sure they are the exact same lure as the Richter Oscars (hard resin heads), even the skirts are the same. Is this the case?

A few brands have bought Richter Lures and rebranded them. BM akready rebrands the avet sx, maybe they're doing the same with the oscars ATM?

What you will find with black

What you will find with black magic lures is that they tend to be heavier due to having rougher conditions in NZ. They also have a range of different colours. Personaly i quite like the BM range due to the extra weight in the heads

Forgot about the Avet, maybe

Fri, 2011-06-03 17:08

Forgot about the Avet, maybe the same deal? I've put them side by side and am pretty confident they are the same lure. Didn't even notice the price if one is cheaper than the other as the store stocks both products, just exited someones stocking another brand getting addicted to these things

I think lure manufacturers are notorious

Fri, 2011-06-03 17:41

for copying one another especially the newer manufacturers.  I saw two new brands of skirted lures at Bluewater in Exmouth recently that I had never seen before.  One brand I think was called 'Black Shack'.  Looked like they had been moulded from Pakula lures to me.

Off the subject a little have you seen the "holey gates" from richter, don't think its gonna get a run in my spread. Although there large soft oscars that are out recently do look the goods and some different colour schemes  are sure to get a run

Haven't seen them

and they don't seem to be on the Richter website.  I'll keep an eye out for them.  Have a look at the Richter Oscar (hard heads) again.  Looks similar to a Pakula Mouse to me.

Richter Lures has a couple of

Fri, 2011-06-03 19:35

Richter Lures has a couple of newer products, one is that blue glitter colour in some lures, one is the Soft Oscar XL, the other is the Holy Gates.

Now, I know they're on the website, because I put them there myself ;)

They're just switched off until Mark gets back from Holidays, but good stockists will have them already.

Jenny Gates has done plenty of testing with the Holy Gates, its named after her, after all.

Have seen the holey gates, think its too light and looks really cheap, the XL soft oscar is gonna kill it as a lure or as a teaser!

*ouch*

That might be a bit harsh, time will tell if its as good as his other offerings though.

The Holy Gates is a bit different to the other ones, its neither a softhead, nor a cast resin job, its machined which is a pretty intensive production process. I'm sure they wouldn't do it if they didn't think it works!

Looking at the hole near the eye, maybe it lays a smoke trail? I haven't tried one in the water yet either.

Spon on, Bernie. A mate of mine imports lures from 'Big T' over in Yarpie land and he packages them as Mad Tuna. Very similar in action and results to the Richters and Black Magic! Im pretty sure its the same dude.
