Rigs

Hi everyone. Can anyone recommend some good resources for learning different rig techniques? I’m fairly good with some of the deep sea rigs but more for land based. Also I want to know if anyone knows how to attached line to braid with that fancy wrap technique. Mine was set up like that till I caught a big fish and needed to cut the line. Thanks :)

As walfootrot said learn that fg knot, best thing since sliced bread way easier than it looks. There's quite a few ways to tie it get on you tube and check it out. Very versatile

Interesting FG

Here's an interesting FG tutorial with a bit different finish than the usual few hitches.  Has anyone tried this out?youtu.be/H5PFJefx3J0

Yeah, it's not

Yeah, it's not the way I tie it.  Was curious to see if anyone else had seen that method though.

Yeah easier ways than that

Yeah easier ways than that and the fancy finish adds nothing to the integrity of the knot.

Knots and Rigs

Mon, 2018-01-29 13:15

Helen, as mentioned by others Animanted Knots is a good website but with rigs pop into a shop (we're also happy to help) and that way you're getting shown the best local rig to suit that species.

As for braid to mono you cant go wrong with a FG or PR knot, we mainly use PR. Once shown (happy to do) and practised several times its not that hard and by far the best joiner knot.

Awesome. Thanks heaps. i might need to put some new braid on one of my reels as well so might get you to look at that for me. none of my rods have been used in ages so want to make sure i have them in working order for when i have a spare of the moment trip. Ive told Craig from Saltwater to let me know when he does a night fish so i want my deep sea rods looked at in case the braid needs replacing etc. What time would be a good time to pop in that isnt busy?
