as you know i have been getting prawns at freo in the boat, but to answer your question,
a couple of years back now we used to drag net for prawns at belmont ski area, we done ok, but they were no where near the size of the ones in my post.
they were like the river prawns you buy for bait, still tasted the same though.
so yes you can get them further up river just not as big.
Put a tank on your back and jump in at blackwall reach ish. river can get down to 14c so cover up bro. 4kg is a average night. what the above posts said about tides and so on is pretty much right. Big buggers down there. wil try to find some photos and post later.
As far as I know there are 2 main types of prawns in the swan,
there's a river prawn that spends its whole life in the river and the King prawn that spends part of its life in the river. the pictures in recent post are the kings. If anyone has more info on the life cycle of these kings, i'd love to find out more, Drop us a PM

as far as i know for dabbing
its freo only , must be an out going tide anything under .4m tide drop its not really worth it.
