Mind you, first time I ever went up there was when the road was single lane dirt inside high windrows. In a butterbox tojo towing a horse float. That was a long trip. Some bits are now a bit wider than they used to be, mostly on floodways, but it's still a pretty narrow bit of bitumen. Can be challenging overtaking caravans doing 80 when you are towing a decent size boat doing 100.
Always carry two spares, full replacement hub ready to go with bearings, and a second set of bearings in toolbox with grease gun and tools. Always top up the bearing buddies with grease before we leave to go there and return home.
Be careful of the floodways further up near Exmouth if it has been raining as they have a reverse camber and can hold water instead letting it drain away.
I lived there for 5 yrs but have been out for 25 yrs but doubt if anything has been changed.
And how do I know they are dangerous - nearly came a major shit cart one night - wet road and in a hurry (needed a beer or 3) and skated across the residual water in the floodway - came very close to rolling the Telecom Tojo.
Just having some fun...see the posts asking what the track is like into Steep Point and thought must be the thing to do...ask about road condition before going domewhere...wanted to see the responses..."Tracks rough" not going now? Must be a pre trip excitement thing.

Sit on 90 to 100 cents dependant on day temp.
Hopefully got it covered.

Roos and cows
Plenty of roos and cattle on the road from Wooramel through to 20km short of Carnarvon and at a guess from Carnarvon all the way through to Exmouth
