This has been a problem from the begining, and im afraid the damage has already been done. When they remove all the rock after the bridge is complete, there will be even more damage to the area.

absolute discrace that not one of the departments that look after the Swan had any input or chalenged the project.

Hopefully they leave some

Hopefully they leave some rocks in the water to recreate some of the oyster reef that was there years ago.

Swan cement company dredged 3 million tonnes of oyster shell out of that immediate area to make cement.  Now in the south there is endevours to recreate angasi oyster reef.

 100 000 tones of rock/

100 000 tones of rock/ gravel, that isnt the only problem its caused, its bottle necked the river in a bad way, the upper reaches has suffered alot more than we know. The silt alone from the floods earlier in the year hasnt flushed out like it should of and its all settled behind the foot bridge a fair way up the river, this has covered up mussel beds and spawning grounds. i havent been able to catch bream from the burswood area for some time now, in the years past i used to have great sessions there. this is only the begining of the damage caused which will affect the river in a bad way in years to come.

To hell with the ecology lets make money

Thu, 2017-12-07 19:51

As is the developers credo, to hell with the ecology of a place lets make money instead.

I just wonder when someone is going to come up with a way to cook money to make a tasty meal, because when there is nothing left but money, what is the world going to eat.
