Rock Fishing at Hillarys

I was there on Australia Day morning, picked up a few skippy, a trumpeter, a couple of tarwhine and a decent sized octopus casting weighted bluebait on gangs off the north wall. I also hooked up on something big, it spooled my 3 kg outfit in no time, not sure wat it was! Has anyone had any luck there since then? I was going to head out during the week

Sounds like a good day out Ubermensch
The big hit may have been a stingray. There are heaps of them that hang around the north wall.

There are definitely rays
There are definitely rays there, the but the biggest i've landed from the rocks has only been a 45 cm fiddler ray. Although I was fishing there about a month ago and i saw a huge one swim past the rocks, would have easily been 1.5 m from head to tail. As we were leaving a bloke, who had been fishing off the disabled platform said he hooked up on it, but it spooled him and then broke his 50 lb line! You have to have the right equipment if you want to reel them in
