Heys guy,
I'm fairly new to fishing and just wondering can a good quality rod and reel make a difference in catch rates, or is it just for the ease and feel of a smoother rig??
Thanks guys!!

I could catch just as many
I can catch just as many herring with my handcaster than with my $350 Sustain.

hmmmm it depends on the type
hmmmm it depends on the type of fishing you are doing eg sometimes you need a reel with big line capacity or big drag ratings. sometimes you need a rod with a good action for working plastics or getting a long cast in.
And the next thing is Qaulity gear lasts alot longer!

quality gear
doesn't make a quarter as much difference as does the knowledge of how to use it. Gear only lasts as long as you want to look after it properly too.
The more you fish the more you'll learn so get out there and enjoy yourself! Plenty of people here will share their experience and point you in the right direction.

This question opens all all
This question opens all all kinds of discussions. Depends on how and what you fish for? For example some rods help impart certain actions into lures/soft plastics which may make them more apealing to fish. Or cheeps reels can loose fish for sure if the drag is not smooth, I have seen it happen plenty of times. But if fishing with bait and catching smaller fish that will probably not pull line then it shouldn't effect hook up rates.
I live with fear every day... sometimes she lets me go fishing.
