Rod leash

Hi guys, wondering if any one that has used a rod leash find they get in the way?, I have just recently bought my 2 boys (4 & 6) a new rod each, problem is I am worried that they will drop them in the drink, these aren't cheap Kmart rods so was thinking of the leash idea but thought they might get in the way, any feedback is greatly appreciated

They get in the way, but only if you are not used to using one previously. If your kids are none the wiser, put a rod leash on for good measure. They will probably be pumped to be out on the water regardless.

Go to blackwoods or a store
Go to blackwoods or a store that sells working at heights tooling . They will have tool lanyards that are made of an elastic material so you dont have a heap of loose rope/ strap around the kids feet . They are better quality than any fishing rod lanyard ive seen and wont be in the way so much.
