Rod to suit a penn 950?
Submitted by BoozeFishSnooze on Fri, 2014-02-14 15:03
Hey guys I have a penn spinfisher 950 loaded with 24kg line paired with a boat road at the moment for off jetties but I was wondering what size/type of rod would maybe be better suited for getting baits a bit further out? I have a 12ft beach rod but it seems a bit too big for jetty work. I have around $200-300 spending.
Cheers, Shaun.

I use a 10ft ugly stick for that very thing (And I used to have a penn 950 attached till it decided to break in half)

Go to your local tackle
Go to your local tackle store and try out a 9500 on a couple of rods to feel the weight/balance
and they should guide you to picking the best option

Rather than spend 300$ on an average rod from ausrtalia, Order one from the U.S. That 300 will buy you a top of the range rod (including postage). I purchased a 13 ft Breakaway HDX from the states. These things heave huge bait miles and are also a great fishing rod. Was on my doorstep with in 14 days and cost me 280 all up.

If you can find a catana 10" o/head rod you can't go wrong. They retail for less than $100, handle 8 oz with ease and are as strong as..
perfect for the rocks or piers.
