rod/reel combo

Hi guys.

after a bit of an epic stuff up on tuesday i managed to loose my favourite rod and reel combo over board in 60m of water with what seemed a godfish atatched :/ had a seragosa 10000 with 50lb jbraid  and rod was awesome. got in in exmuth 8 years ago, not sure of exact brand, think it was hornet or something. either way it was my top rod.. some epic language followed. lucky i was solo and a long way out!!

anyway, i need a replacement,so looking for advice. i really liked the seragosa...

will mainly be used for bottom bouncing in 40+m of water. tagretting dhues, baldies etc, but would be nice if could double for trolling or a bit of jigging.

im really not into broomsticks. would love something that has good sensitivity, and allows a bit of play, but needs to be strong.

will probably be putting 50lb jbraid on again.

as far as costs go, happy to go around $450 or so for a good reel, and prob up to a similar amount for the rod.

Would really love some suggestions as to what to start looking at.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Goat.

I'll watch this thread with interest as I'm looking for a similar setup. I read a review on the new Saragosa and it was very good. I went on a barra charter in Broome and the guy swears by them.

Mines probably 4-5 years old - It looks really similar, but might be a newer model. Either way - seems a bargain!

Thu, 2021-04-29 15:11

I have three 64CJ Demon Blood rods in different line classes and can't fault them, Excellent action. The smallest has caught my biggest Dhue and the heaviest PE 3-5 has smashed big Reds and Rankins up north, it's paired up with an 8K Stella and beautifully balanced. The smaller one's I use 5k Stella's.

The new Terez's look quite nice and came reccomended when I was looking earlier this year. Was also keen on the Demon Blood V2. However ended up with the PE5 Shimano Anthem to pair up with a 10k Gosa with 50lb braid. I like the rod so far, although quite short at 5'2.

Saragosa and demon blood

Fri, 2021-04-30 08:52

Saragosa and demon blood would be nice, type j might be worthwhile. Check the 2nd market, there are some great bargains on fbook to be had with once in a lifetime trippers up north, they come home then sell there brand new outfit as its never been used again from that one trip.
