Rottnest Island Entrance fees and charges for 2020 - 2021 look to have gone up!

I have only received one renewal out of two so far and that renewal is for annual entrance to the Island. It looks like it has gone up by around about 2% even though the Island was closed to boating for 3 months or so this year. No credits no fee reductions. It made me look at mooring licencee renewal fees and they look to have gone up even more!!
I cant believe they could think we will ban you from Island for 3 months (during arguably the best Easter period for ages) and not consider any form of credit or fee reduction.
I've had my whinge now and feeling slightly better - .....kind of......

Yep I noticed the same. It makes me wonder if I am better to pay landing fees when we go over. You've got to take a few people over there a few times before the annual pass starts to stacks up.

I know what you mean Lavs
I end up paying the entrance fee for the big boat and because I use a 5.8m tender I also pay entrance fee for that.
With the bigger boat it always seems to stack up the best paying the annual fee. But we do probably 20-25 nights minimum stay per year plus half a dozen day trips with multiple people on board.

Yeah with a bigger boat that you can comfortably live aboard, it definitely makes sense.

Email from RIA this morning...
Following Rottnest Island’s closure earlier this year (as part of the Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic) some boat owners have been in touch with Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) regarding a part-refund or rebate of licence fees, authorised user payment or the annual fee in lieu of admission fee.
Please note that under the Rottnest Island Regulations 1988, RIA does not currently have the power to waive, reduce or refund fees and charges that are prescribed in Regulations, other than the Island admission fee.
However, on 12 August 2020, the Premier and the Minister for Transport announced that the Government has introduced the COVID-19 Response and Economic Recovery Omnibus Bill 2020 to State Parliament. This new Bill will allow State Government agencies to waive, vary or refund fees, charges, dues and late penalties or extend the time in which a fee is to be paid.
Please be assured RIA will be in touch with all boat owners (registered for a seasonal pass) as soon as Parliament’s consideration of this Bill, and the determination by the RIA Board as to appropriate rules to governing waivers and refunds, is established.
