Rotto Cray report part 2
Headed to rotto this morning
Pulled all 3 pots of mine and the mrs's, one was stuck on the reef, was a C*** to get off but the boat ended up pulling her off! Think it was the limited wieght that i had in it, so im getting rid of the placcies and just going to focus all on woodies/slats from next week (will pick up two more). Think it was more my lack of experience in placing the pot as well with limited weight.
Got 4 keepers and around 10 burried/tar spots. All the keepers came from the one pot wierd. didnt see one white,
There was bait everywhere east of rotto boiling like no tomorrow, saw the odd small tuna splash as well. (around 6 am) while driving there, headed to west end to troll to the south side for nothing.
headed in around 10 30 short day on the water
photos added. the small cray was legist size measured 82mm, and two jumbos in there as well!!!
at least im getting a few!~

At least you have a few on
At least you have a few on the board mate. Doing much better than we ever did at rotto - having your pots still there when you go to pull them for a start is an improvement. We saw heaps of berried/tar spots on the north side couple weeks back.

geez..
Geezus mate...all this talk about getting pulled off...then getting some woodies got me all excited..
Teach me and my filthy mind not to read things properly.
I remember when we first started out cray fishing had very much the same problems as you. With experience and some good advice we all learn eh .
But 4 crays is better than none. At least you have someting for tea tonite. Not like me.
Good luck in the future and also it is good to note that your better half is also your best mate...or is that skipper...lol

Have to clip their tails to
Have to clip their tails to let fisheries know that you're keeping them. Stops people from claiming they were going to release them or dumping them overboard after highgrading.
"Tail clipping
Fishers must clip or
punch the central
flap on the tail fan
of all lobsters that
are kept within five
minutes of taking
them out of the water.
The hole must be more than 10 mm wide.
A tail clip must remove at least the bottom half
of the central tail fin."
