Rotto Crays - Pots ......

Scooted off to rotto after knocking off at 12

Firstly The douche that has either stolen, or ran over one of my pots, FLURO PINK FLOATS, not lengtsh of rope hanging everywhere (i cable tie to make sure) F*** you!

and secondly the douche that stole the weights out of my other plastic pot F**** you to!

enough of that.....3 pots were pulled between me and the mrs, resulting in 14 crays, 12 were burried or tar spot. Only two keepers. no whites at all.

Frustrating arvo to a degree with my first season of cray potting and these shenagigans have already gone down......

bring on the whites i say!!

Unfortunately it happens & it's also Rotto so about to happen a heap more times, I recommend some tips to reduce these issues but not on open forum. Ps. before you shoot on the ballast are you sure it was well secured, you will probably swear black n blue that it was just odd to only nick the ballast not the pot?

yeah i seconds lamby's comment re: ballast weight.

Plastics do have a reputation of losing their weights.

Here's a tip re potting at rotto.

Keep your pots CLOSE to the reefs, and stay clear of the deeper channels running into the bays.

Am assuming at the number of berried females you got, your in quite shallow, no issues there just look for bigger lumps and pot close up. Boats generally wont run over the shallow reefs given the nurtorious building swell around rotto.

guys i understand what your saying.....but when you zip tie all your pot up, to see if some one cuts them to open the placcie up, and there all gone, and especially since you know you retied them back down before the first soak....

Bodie - yerh i know, might moove my placcies tomorrow morning if i can head out before work to another bay, where my wooden ones are...(even though i think they got pulled too! due to my tieing up the rope due to it being too long and once again the ties are cut!)

but oh well they all still had crays in them!

Puttin pots off ROTTO during

Sun, 2011-11-27 12:18

Puttin pots off ROTTO during schoolies week is asking for trouble.   Rich Kids in their dads boats dont give a F*** about who's pot it is. Or where they put it back.

We lost 4 brand new beehive pots the first year we fished there.   Learnt our lesson...

Piss the placcys off get jarrah slats, they last longer, we've been using the same pots for 6 seasons now...

USE HEAVY GAUGE WIRE INSTED OF ZIP TIES, THE PLASTIC WEARS OUT ON THE ROCKS,  TRIPPLE THE WEIGHTS AND GET A WINCH...

THE HEAVIER THE POT THE BETTER....  That will stop randoms pulling ya pots.

ALSO PUT YOUR FEMALES BACK IN THE POTS THEY ATTRACT THE BIG BOYS....

Hypocrisy Rules.

Funny to see someone having a c-c-cry about pot pirates in one thread, then recommending people break the regs in another.

If you can't see whats wrong

Sun, 2011-11-27 15:09

If you can't see whats wrong with putting big females back down with your pots, then maybe you're just too stupid to hold a license, or maybe you're just a troll.

STICKS AND STONES

Sun, 2011-11-27 23:40

The rules state ....

Protected lobsters must be returned to

the water from which they were taken
within five minutes of capture or before the
next pot is pulled.

THEY ARE RETURNED.... SAFE AND UNHARMED.....

AND THEY EVEN GET A FREE FEED....

So until there is a law written in the FISHERIES HANDBOOK,
this STUPID TROLL will just enjoy getting 12 everyday while SMARTARSES like you whinge that there isn't any crays around....
