I remember a few years ago watching a group of blokes catching big stingrays off the main jetty at night, good option if you want to stretch your arms.

Jetty

You might find the pub jetty and the fuel jetty you will have a bit more luck with the squid. If you walk up and down them you can often spot them. But if your keen for a ride there is plenty of squid on the green island jetty!

the main jetty is a pretty safe bet for usual bread and butter species, herring, gardie etc, odd flathead. Haven't been there for years but the whole Thompson bay area is seagrass beds so good squid ground.

I went over a couple of weeks ago.  Plenty of Tailor off the main jetty at sunset.  Try using a float with a glow light.  First night I used a sinker and the rays just take it and you can't stop em!  Apparently there are squid when the water is clear to.
