My only soccer experience.
I remember back in the mid 70's at high school we had the learn both soccer and Aussie rules, now me and my mates were already very fluent in Aussie rules so soccer was new to us pretty well. Our school was pretty well made up of Aussie kids and Europeans, mainly Italians. Now these Italian kids were the opposite to us, marvelous with the round ball were we thought just kick the stuffing out of it, but no, these Italian kids would do these little kicks backwards, forwards, sideways and just frustrate the crap out of us Aussie kids. Righto, game on. Because we done each game on alternative days for phys ed, come Aussie rules days we would set out for pay back, and shirt fronts and big hangers over the top were the order of the day. This only lasted for a couple of weeks and after that, the Italians etc would come to school with notes from their parents excusing them for not doing PE on those days. Spoilt our fun yes, but we managed to squeeze in a shirt front or 2 on soccer days too.
