Running two engels in a boat?

Hi all,

Heading on a trip north soon and was wondering what is the best way to run two engels in the boat whilst driving?

I have dual batteries in the boat, but would it be better to run them from the car instead of flattening the boat batteries?

I have an Anderson pug on the car, can this be used to run the fridges?

Appreciate the help!

Better to run from a source

Better to run from a source that is getting charged.Unless you have big kick ass solar panels on the boat.

If the engels are plugged in

If the engels are plugged in to cigarette lighter plugs in the boat, then make up a cable to connect the Anderson plug to the boat battery - just make sure it is fused and heavy cable(I assume the Anderson plug is wired to the car battery at the other end?), so the boats batterys are charged by the car as you drive. (or preferably get a decent dc-dc charger from the car battery to the boat battery)

Wanna has the best idea
If you intend to do it regularly and especially if the boat has AGM/Gel batteries then a DC-DC charger like Ctek is the go.
AGMs etc take a slightly higher voltage to fully charge and a long cable (12 meters?) will always lose some voltage especially as your 2 engels may draw 10 amps when both running.
Even with plain LA batteries they will be long term at 3/4 charge which will screw them if they only get (say) 13.5 volts.

When we take chest freezers

When we take chest freezers and Engels up north we just run the inverter generator in the boat or back of ute/trailer and run everything on 240v
