how much fuel??

gday fellas....got a project boat on the go at the moment ( 5.5 meter penguin phantom) and im going to be puting tanks in below the deck....its only got a 1.9 meter beam and will have 90 to 100 horses on the back so will have plenty of power and not alot of drag in the water undecided on 2 or 4 stroke yet but wich ever way I go it will be either new or late model second hand so will be pretty fuel efficient.......I can easily get 100 liters under the floor, would this be a safe amount or should I aim for 150??

Plan to fish 40 to 60 meters out from woodies point ramps

Cheers for any feedback :)

What are you intending to do

What are you intending to do with it? More is ALWAYS better. That last 20 litres on a long rough trip away from metro is worth its weight in gold.

100 litres very roughly a safe 80-90 miles range but you also need a safe reliable and accurate way to determine whats left in it. The most accurate and reliable a dowel into a dip tube

Agree. Definately more is

Agree. Definately more is always better. IMO also definatey go for 4 stroke and get digital computer gauges. Then you can reset at the start of each trip and watch in real time exactly how much fuel you have burnt and easily work out exactly how much you have left. Digital Gauges also give you instantaneous fuel usage so you can work out when your runnning at your most economical. Priceless I reckon.

as everyone has said.  more

as everyone has said.  more fuel is better.  not only does it give you better range, but as the wind picks up, the boat is heavier, and will slap less.  I have 90L under floor and WISH i had an extra 50-60L

Depends on the motor

Thu, 2013-07-11 16:01

If you get a 4stroke go the 100 liters main reason being the motor is already heavy if you add more weight under the floor the poor old 4stroke will be working hard to get you up and going and all your benefits will be lost personally I would put a good 2stroke on it you will be much happier and enough power to carry stra fuel around and as far as fuel effeciantcy goes there is basically no difference between modern 2 strokes and 4s
