Salmon - Bunker Bay
Well, I finally got stuck into the mighty Aussie Salmon.
I've been in WA for almost 2 years now & today's first Salmon experience was simply awesome.
I tagged along with a mate down to Bunker Bay (boat based). We flicked poppers, ricta plugs & soft plastics with great success.
They were simply everywhere in Bunkers & the quality was sensational. None were below 5kg... most averaging 7kg.
I flicked a small halco rooster most of the day (rigged with 1 single hook only). Later in the day (and after losing my popper) I took out the 6lb combo & used a soft plastic. I had to work the soft plastic really agressively & pause it just before the boat to get a hookup.
Every man & his dog were in Bunkers, so we ended up travelling around to the western side & worked a bommie with more poppers which resulted in plenty of big salmon. My mate even got stitched up, by what we beleive, was a samson fish. It was far more peaceful fishing the bommie without boats around us.
The poppers & stickbaits were the best option - everyone else used metal slices.
I don't have many pics, but I'll post them up when they've been emailed to me.

Sounds like an ace day on the Salmon!
I think I rigged my Richter Plugs with Decoy Cutlass hooks, they do well on the tuna!

you needed to be there
you needed to be there earlier Daz .. when i put in the boat at 6am there was a massive school of salmon out in the open of bunkers . as we where the first boat out we landed 6 on all sorts of lures for the comp (kept one for bait) and then shot out wide for a few more fish before anyone could spook them on the surface. :)
