The black bit is the new airbail system
And the rotor has the same magnetic grease system as the certates.I will get one to compare i think. They are still a little way off from what i have been told.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

Dont like the new AR system.
Dont like the new AR system. Sure it great for water repellent but Ive never had my AR failed on my Saltigas, even after been drenched and not washed for a week. Why change it now.
I see they've adopted the same "cut outs" rotor, spool and handle collar as the new Certate. Save a couple of grams?? Surely the oil will offset that.
I look at it this way...how am I gonna service the reel if the "magnetized" oil need to be replace every time you open the reel up. Therefore you have to send it to Daiwa to service them.
Funny how they've now employed springs into the AR roller bars to keep them in place, which is the same setup as the Shimanos.
Time will tell if these will hold up to their hype.

Had a chat with the Daiwa Rep last week and the 2010 Saltiga's are going to be 20% ontop of the models currently available.
Thats all i know....

Bit unusual when the new
Bit unusual when the new certates were even a little bit cheaper than the old ones...
At $1350 they're allready a good $200 more than an equivalent stella. At 20% more, you're looking at over $1600! Now, i'm generally a fan of daiwa, but why would you pick a saltiga over a stella if it has a $500 price premium. The new saltigas have to be better than the stellas, at the same price point IMO though...

Daiwas Dreaming, as much as
Daiwas Dreaming, as much as i am inlove wid Saltigas
20% on top of the original Saltiga Z price, i do not think they will be selling much.
all for what really nothing really different they look cheap n crap in my opinion
and the mechanisms wouldnt be that much updated i dont no how much better things they can put in a reel better then what the original Saltigas and Stella's produce.
so far i have only seen the normal saltigas
no expedition or dog fight
so maybe they are only making a new range for the orginal plain saltigas from the 4500 to the 6000
