There is a reason ALL Mulies
There is a reason ALL Mulies arent salted , its because they are a inferior bait, they will still catch fish but they just arent as good. Poeple use them because they stay on the hooks longer. I would never sure them, but each to their own I suppose.

my way
is place a grill or something similar in bottom of bucket or some other plastic container. This is to keep mulies out of brine as it seeps through.
.layer of salt...cheap stuff like pool salt.
.layer of mulies
.layer of salt
repeat above steps if necessary.
You can keep the mulies as long as you want on the salt but the longer, the dryer and tougher they will become.
Once you have salted them you can bag them up and freeze.
A one day salting is good for short trip away where you don't have freezing capabilities. They will last pretty good.
Hope that some sort of sense to you. Some one else will probably have ideas too.
Cheers

I salt most of my mulies,
I salt most of my mulies, pretty much like Terry does. Main thing is to let the brine drain out so they aren't sitting in it. Use IQF mulies and throw them in the salt frozen. 4 days is enough, then I vacuum pac them and freeze them but I find I don't need to keep them frozen on longer trips.
They do work well especially if ganging them and casting long distances off the beach...they don't fly to bits like fresh, mushy ones.
I also cube them for berley and catching whiting, hezzas, bream, skippy etc.
Only time I don't use salted mulies is boat fishing cos its a straight drop down and nannies just love them!!

I've being salting my mullies
I've being salting my mullies too.
Pretty much what has already been said. My setup is a bucket that has heaps of holes drilled in the bottom. Then a layer of mesh (some of the holes are large). Then a layer of cloth. Then salt, mullies, salt, mullies, etc. This all drains into the laundry tub.
I use pool salt as it is nice and cheap and I find the bigger grains also help the process. After a week or so I take them out and they are good to go. They get bagged up with a little bit of fresh salt then in the freezer. I'm still using some I prepped just after x mas and think they are great for off the beach.
My only suggestion would be find IQF human food grade mullies. It makes a huge difference.
