Saltist Hyper VS Terez

hey all,
bit stumped on what rod to but for my Stradic 8000 with PE3 Braid your personal/professional opinion would be great, looking at the Terez line rating 15-30lb or the 20-40lb Saltist Hyper both 7,2''
will be taking it to Ningaloo as an all rounder for snapper/Macks and Gt's
cheers!

I've got the older model
I've got the older model terez (pearl coloured rod) 30-50lb and that's matched to my stradic 6000 with 30lb braid. I wouldn't want any lighter rod. It could do with a bit more stiffness towards the butt, when hooking up to good fish, they get to dictate the start of the fight more than I like as the rod doesn't allow me to give them enough stick. sorry cant comment on the saltist.
The upside to the terez is that it's more of an "jack of all trades rod" doesn't specialise in any particular form of fishing but can be used for just about everything from casting to jigging to bottom bashing. good snapper rod.

Had the 8000 on the terez 15-30pd
reel was way to heavy for the rod and I switched it too a 5000 stradic and it works heaps better. As ben said good allround rod but not great at any particular thing. Haven't seen saltists so can't comment either but stats look better

If you can, you might be
If you can, you might be better off getting one rod for bottom bashing / trolling and jigging (you can get one rod to do all these things well - basically a jig rod) and then a second rod for casting.
Trying to add casting into the mix brings in a lot of compromise - because you are then looking at a longer rod, which is going to cost you in grunt (unless you go something much stiffer, which compromises other things).
I haven't fished that model of rod, but PE3 and a 15-30lb rod for GTs could be interesting to say the least!
There are heaps of cheap jig rods around these days that do a good job - you might be able to find something second hand and then pick up a caster or something?
Just a thought anyway.
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

I have a couple of Terez,
I have a couple of Terez, one 6'8" MH 40-80lb used with Stella 18000 and 80lb braid, other is my sons' 7' MH 40-80 (?) with the extra higher grip, and a Stella 10000 with 50lb braid. Sorry, can't give model numbers, away at work. Shimano claim they are actually built with a slower action for braid, to get best use of the lack of stretch, or words along those lines . This from their big glossy annual catalogue. They are certainly not a fast action rod, but we caught some big fish with them, (at Ningaloo last winter)and they took the punishment with no problems. They are not an expensive bit of kit, and probably not bad value for money. Good all-rounders, couldn't comment on the Saltist.

I work in a Pro Tackle
I work in a Pro Tackle store, and although I am a Daiwa man, in this instance I would pick the Terez. Better allround build.
PM me if you want more info.
