sambo season
gday all
we are coming from interstate (SA) for the samson season first weekend of december (4th).
Had a ball last year and couldnt help but come back. We were there a bit later however last year (27th Dec) and although we got onto plenty of fish the sharks were also out in force. So this year we decided to come a bit earlier.
Just curious when the season actually gets into full swing? i have been told mid november but things still seem a little slow at the moment according to the reports. Hopefully we still get onto some decent schools it would be a shame to come all that way to find they arent out in force yet?!
We are finding over here in SA water temps are down due to the late winter we have been getting and the summer season is off to a slow start for the normal species you would expect to find.....

First week of December they
First week of December they should definatley be firing. They seem to be coming on a little later every year and the season not lasting as long as years gone. When they first start they also seem to be at their biggest with most fish over 40kg.
I actually fish.

yesterday was crap to put it
yesterday was crap to put it politely, too still, too clear and too much bait around. that said we got a fish a drop two weeks ago but there were no ags on the sounder yesterday. This time last year there were plenty around, but I cannot ever remember seeing so much bait off perth. Came in at sundown yesterday when it glassed off and there were footy field size bait schools everywhere from the derwent in.

Better than being at work !
The worst days fishing .......is still better than the best day at work .
If it was too easy every one would want to fish
Hopefully I might free up some time this weekend and have a go !

So from that one instance you have deemed fishing reports totally redundant?

hard work
Hi mate,
yeah they are around at the moment but it would appear that they are not out deep went out yesterday and didn't bother going to the barges and from the boys at the ramp it was a good decision. We hooked up but got busted three times in a row after that i was sick of losing jigs so headed in but yeah bait schools everywhere to go along with the tuna.

Apparently there are a lot of sharks already at the patch off Hillarys. Mates were being sharked within seconds the other day.

we managed a few sambos
we managed a few sambos around the 20kg mark and hooked some horse ones that got sharked. unfortunately it was the expensive jigs on the kamikaze missions, not quite on the chew enough for the cheap jigs to entice them. a few ambers in there too

They are not late, people
They are not late, people are just early. There are fish on it all year round, but the spawning ags havent arrived yet. I have been doing this for a while and have kept dates, remember the year before last I fished it three days straight and on the 26th of Nov they fired up and didn't slow till mid Jan. Just my observation (relax for a couple more weeks).
I actually fish.
