Sambo spots
G'day all.
I know asking for fishing spots is prett taboo, but I'm looking for a spot or two to jig for some sambos in the metro area. I don't get offshore very often due to work and having a small boat but got a few mates that don't fish much and a load of jigging gear that has never seen water so very keen to get out there and stretch some virgin arms and test some light gear.
So if anyone out there is willing to point me in the rite direction or give me some co ords then I'd be happy to reward them with some inshore snapper spots out from hillaries or a carton :) depending on how generous they are.
Failing that, we will just head out from hillaries into the 40's and cross the fingers and watch the sounder.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers Paul

Paul_86 go try on the Gemini
Paul_86 go try on the Gemini wreck there were sambo,s there last summer and its not far out approx 16km north of mindarie i dont have the coordinates on me but can get them for you if nobody else posts them - if youve got navionics its on there apart from that obviously go out to the barges but it sounds like your boat may be a bit small for that

Cheers guys, forgot about
Cheers guys, forgot about the Gemini wreck. I've heard it's a bit harder to tempt them there but might be a go. Isn't there a wreck out from ledge point as well?!

I have only got these co-ords from navionics on my phone. They may be wrong and i have never fished them so i cant tell you if there is fish at them.
Good luck hope you get into a few.

Gemini co-ords are off a bit
Gemini co-ords are off a bit (a few hundred meters) but there is usually a boat or two on it. Fish are suspicous and will drill you into the wreck if your not on your game.
This time of year, just keep an eye on the sounder, they hang around lumps and will be more easily tempted than at the Gemini, but Gemini a good option if you have nothing else.

Thanks guys, ah the key
Thanks guys, ah the key biscayne, that might be worth a look then, thanks for the coord's jayce, appreciate it!
petermac, I've bumped into a few in the shallows last time I got out on the 3mile, but wanna use all this fancy jigging gear and jigs I've brought, plus hopefully a bit more reliable then in close.
Cheers John, that has been our back up plan all along, only problem is that as much as I've tried I can't find a sweet spot on my boat for the transducer (480 Quintrex coast runner, aluminium hull with "steps/ribs" in it) so anything over planning speed I can't get a half decent bottom reading so gotta drive around blind most of the time, or pick an area to focus on, but can waste a lot of time that way.

There is another mark on the navioics app just west of the gemini marked as a fishing hot spot. Might be worth a look. Again i havnt been there only going on these charts but if your in the area it might ok..

Yep don't base your whole day
Yep don't base your whole day around being able to fish on the Gemini. If another boat is already there with dive flags up there isn't much you can do about it.
Happened to me a couple of weekends ago and I had to head out deeper instead.
