shikari take no more than 8 i think but they have a small boat for a charter that is. youll struggle got to remember they have to make money some way. maybe see if you can personalize a charter and talk them into letting you take 9 mates

Thu, 2012-07-26 21:16

You need to be organised for a pic on Shikari, be down at the transom board as the fish comes up and have someone ready with the camera .

Al is a great operator who knows his stuff and really looks after the fish.

well i came over with 4 mates and 3 mates from Ray and Annes tackle and marine

fishing was pretty patchy and hard work and the sharks were killing us, in 2 days fishing we totaled up 30 hook ups and we only landed one fish each that was not attacked by sharks.

Mate runs a charter boat out of Mandurah / Bouvard that does regular sambo charters,  have a look for High Calibre charters on google for details. He's been in the business for many years with good catch rates.

I've been with Al couple of times, and quite enjoyed it ... I'd certainly go on his boat, much over Mills and Bluejuice, even though it's much smaller rig. He knows his grounds, and never had problems with taking photos ... you just caught him in a bad day

Saltwater are excellent. Went out two weeks ago with Gofishinwa. It was a shame we couldn't find the big boys but the whole boat was hooking up left right and centre on smaller aj's and sambos plus a few dhu's, blackass and red snapper. Was a great intro to jigging for me and a few others. Heading out again this sunday for pinkies.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

It's people like you with no regard for alot of effort and seatime spent finding these spots so customers can experience the thrill of catching the sambos without a dozen other boats or sharks. There are alot of well known spots which are common knowledge but it's the few others you have to keep secret. When you call me ,remind me who you are.thanks

Yep well said Craig. Craig is always doing his best to put you on the fish not only using the wrecks but his own tried and true spots. Have been out twice now Sambo jigging with Saltwater and each time have gotten onto good fish. Don't go stealing his marks, if found you'll be swimming home.

Looking forward to the 21 Craig GFWA jig day should be epic.

Pinging on another fishermans boat is a dog act... That's how he puts food on his families table. Especially when he's trying to help you get onto fish you are unable to find and experience yourself.

Who are you till, if you knew me you would know that I don't need to get spots from you because I have over 500 if not a 1000 spots to choose from in Perth . Maybe you were on my spot and I was checking you out to see if I had seen you before!! My motto is if they run away they're guilty! You've said crap about me before and I would love to see you say it to me straight.

Been out with you before Craig, had a great day too, and can attest to you saying that you do have hundreds of spots, i remember glancing at your plotter when chating with you in the wheelhouse and it looked like a Christmas Tree with how many spots were marked on it.

Which makes me wonder though why would you want to drive up close to another boat thats on 'your spot' to "see if i had seen you before"?

As in, you thought it might be a mate you know? or you think it may be someone who has pinged you before? If the latter, is this something you would usually do if someone else was seemingly fishing on 'your spot'?

Matt, its going to come to them one day that the issue is that they're just not worth sucking up too ;)

For the record, I initially said positive things about the charter Shikari, I just found the concern about pinging SW a bit galling after we going pinged by him, and just so we could be sure it wasn't an accident, drove straight onto the next boat.

Mon, 2012-10-15 09:20

A charter boat is a big target Jamie and being on somebody's boat with a gps taking their spots by deceit is alot different to driving past a boat. Did I actually stop and fish your spot. I see so many rec boats drive straight towards me to get a bearing and distance then even stop and fish it at the start of the drift. If I looked at my plotter I wouldn't even remember where you were. Actually I got 5 dhuies off that spot. Thanks, I'll take 15 guys there on dec 16! If I was always worrying about other boats or people on my boat stealing info or spots I would be a paranoid wreck. You can have lots of marks but you have to know when to fish them. I rely on the good faith of the majority of fishermen to do the right thing and I'm not going to lose any sleep over you mate.

Probably been on the receiving end of blatant pinging from a charter, I don’t know the details and from what I’ve heard Craig is one of the better skippers around so can’t comment. I’ve had it happen many times and since I’ve limited fishing on the weekends I’ve found some metro charters worse offenders than rec boats.

ashamble or whatever your name is,  come pull up on a drift with me and see what happens. trust me my fuel tank is big enough to chase you down and meet you on the jetty :) if you have to be that sneaky and scummy type, your the sort that doesnt understand the meaning of water ettiquette. Go fishing and the whole adventrue is finding spots hard work gets you great results.

The ocean is not yours and not another mans but understand the meaning of respect and grow some balls, im disgusted at your stupidity that you would even post that on public forum.

I have worked on charter for a good while and now have my career i am stil a regular on the water and yet regardless of close people i know who recently have come to have stolen spots by sneakily using random iphone and android apps to ping spots of charter companys i find this disgusting and would never lower myself to con another mans livelyhood.

your are just as much of a disgrace as the woodman point creche crew.

pull up on a drift on me and ill expose you. and be warned all have some manners its a bloody big ocean and i have a very large photo album of pingers who are about to be named on the internet. if its your boat, gutted bro.

Oh dear

Sat, 2012-11-10 22:44

Oh dear, why do I do this to myself.

Till is entitled to his opinion on what he's seen with charter boats, it can't be right, it can't be wrong, its his opinion and he's not threatening anyone.  Craig is entitled to disagree which he has done, who is right, who is wrong, it doesn't matter - form your own opinion but everyones entitled to one.

A lot of crew like Craig and rate his charter and it was why he was once a site sponsor.  Then people like Ashambe come along and ruin it for everyone, guess you just can't win somedays.

Thread locked, think there's enough info here for Deja Vu to decide who to go with.
