Saragosa 8k v 10k
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sat, 2015-03-14 10:54
I am going to buy a reel to match my 12' Prevail and have pretty much settled on the Saragosa in the 8000 or 10000. They same weight and same size but the 10k holds about 140y more line and has more drag 12 v 15kg and the 8k has a higher gear ratio 5.6 v 4.9.
I am leaning towards the 10k but is the gear ratio going to be even noticable when casting out plugs and slices?

I also want to be able to
I also want to be able to (ideally) swap the reel between the Prevail and a Deep Jig 200

If casting lures you
If casting lures you probably want a lighter setup, if soaking big baits you probably want more line capacity. Don't worry too much about the drag, 12kg is more than enough unless you're fishing 80lb+ line.
For casting lures you also probably want a higher line retrieve so you don't have to wind as fast to work the lure

Also considering the 8k
Also considering the 8k Stradic now too. 100 grams lighter than the 10 and 8k gosa and 13kg of drag on a 8-12kg rod which matches up.
