Save our Cockburn Sound

At this stage I am yet to hear back from the Premier on the questions below relating to the Point Peron WWTP. A suggestion from a member on this site suggested all members send him the same questions in order to show the community concern. Lets see if that gets a response.

mailto:wa-government@dpc.wa.gov.au
Premier I have attached questions you asked the then Minister of Water, Mr Marmion in 2012. At the time you were rightly concerned about the capability of the Point Peron WWTP to function past 2015. While the Water Authority Annual Reports show that it is compliant with their environmental license, the report shows that continued exceedances in the Warnbro / Shoalwater coastal samples are not siloed or investigated but become part of an overall average of a large number of sample points.
Given recent and previous issues over the WWTP since 2015 with a number of sample point exceedances,
1. What is the short / long term future for Point Peron WWTP?
2. Is the Point Peron WWTP capable of handling the current growth of the Baldivis area until expansion of the East Rockingham WWTP?
3. Are the current operating requirements for Part V Environmental Licence #L4202/1991/10 adequate given the number of sample points used to average out for reporting?
4. Are the current discharges as reported in the Water Authority Annual Reports which meet the Sepia Depression Ocean Outlet (SDOOL), (Ministerial Statement 665, 28 October 2004) still appropriate at the thresholds set over such a large sample area?

Water Corporation

Nice work Tom.  Points 1 and 2 might be better directed towards the Water Corporation though.

I'm not sure how much luck you will have getting an answer, but I know they will have that information.

About the outer harbour project by this government......in all likelihood it will destroy the snapper breeding forever, D9 appears likely to be removed to facilitate the project.....I know change is a constant but I shudder to think what this will do to our beloved Sound

 mine to Mr Premier

Unless I'm mistaken, what Tom is suggesting is all of us ask the same questions to the Premier to highlight our concerns

From the forum feed above I'm not sure that has been understood but, I may be wrong.

 Navy running public

Thu, 2018-05-03 19:27

Navy running public information sessions in Rockingham today giving an update into a chemical used in the fire fighting foam they used on Garden Island for training (PFAS) contaminated the water table under GI and seeping into the ocean. 474 ground water samples analysed and 386 of these exceed guidelines. What a f%$#%g mess, add this to the crap water authority is pumping into the sound. If you want to protect your fishing grounds get involved. You can check it out  stirling.defence@rpsgroup.com.au
