New one doing its circle. hey mum I dropped my phone down the toilet and sim isn’t working message my new number on watsapp when you see this it’s urgent 0480;089664.x . Funny thing is my mother replied ( silly bugger ) now I’ve received it . What’s app spelt wrong . As far as I know I am still male . Some people may get done ( tricked my mum ) anyway just heads up

Had one this week when I advertised some stands on Market place. Dude messaged me saying he would buy them but would send his sister to collect. Asked if he could pay via pay ID, no probs as long as the money was in the bank before collection. Then he asked for my email that's when I sniffed his game, asked him why he needed that. To make sure I'm sending to the right person was the response, told the flog yeah nah and blocked him.
Another was two weeks ago some dude advertising an electric reel combo on one of the boating pages. Messaged hime and said very interested, sent me his banking details very quickly. I asked where he was located apparently Whyalla SA. Anyway said to the scumbag I was messaging nothing would be sent unless I had his phone number. So he sent one which I promptly rang and some random dude answewred knowing nothing about it, so I let him know his phone number was being shared.
Anyway messaged the dude back calling him a fucken scum bag scammer to which I was blocked etc all good.
NEK minute I'm banned from FB messenger for breaching their code of conduct. So did some research on this, messenger is a non encrypted messeging service and they monitor your content.

Yeah the pay ID scam is a very common one Andy. My wife was trying to flog some stuff recently and people wanted to use pay ID and get someone else to pick it up. I said whay would you do taht when they're coming to pick it up anyway so just pay cash. My 20 yo sone set us straight pretty quickly!
I hate people with a vengeance that scam people, especially the most vulnerable. Absolute scum.

The dead giveaway is that they dont ask a single question or try to bargain, its straight to payid and needing your email to hack the account and take over.
This time it was his brother coming to get it.

These scams are coming way too often, and unfortunately they are becoming very sophisticated. Not as easy for the average person to distinguish the difference now.

I had to crack a sad with my super company when they sent a text with the amout i had in my fund. I told them to stop doing it and only send it by mail. To many sleezy bastards around with Tech savy mates. And they all live in Mumbi

The closest I've come is being within a bee's dick of transferring cash for 2x Soundwave tickets on behalf of mate a few years ago via Gumtree. It all sounded legit and the story was they were in Gero and coudn't make it down to Perth and even provided me a copy of a Gero driver's licence. Something twigged inside and I made up a story and told them that my brother was on the way back from Exmouth and that he would be able to pick up the tickets and give them cash the following day and that's when the excuses started about not being around that day and only happy to do the transaction via bank account etc. Certainly dodged a bullet.

A really common one is advertising a heap of gear reasonably cheap on a local buy sell page on FB, turning the comments off and when people message via messenger the seller asks for a deposit to hold it via bank transfer. I just love winding these pieces of shit up and playing along to waste their time.

Bwahaha, I thought it was just me. I strung one along when selling a kayak for a good 5 days.... even created a fake Western Union transfer receipt to get their hopes up the scam had worked and savoured the meltdown when they realised.
